ثلاثٌthree things بهنthrough them المرءُa person يزدادُincreases رفعةًstature
ثلاثٌ بهن المرءُ يزدادُ رفعةً
ولاand nothing مثلهاlike them للمرءfor a person فيin الدهرlife رافعهْelevating
ولا مثلها للمرء في الدهر رافعهْ
Three things through which a person rises in stature,
Three things make a man rise in esteem:
And nothing in life elevates a person like them:
Nothing else raises a man's worth as they.
تواضعُهhis humility والزهدُand renunciation عماfrom what يريدهhe desires it
تواضعُه والزهدُ عما يريده
وسترُand concealing المساوىfaults فهْيfor they are للمرءfor a person نافعَهْbeneficial
وسترُ المساوى فهْي للمرء نافعَهْ
His humility, renunciation of what he desires,
His humility, his asceticism in desires,
And concealing faults—for they benefit a person.
And covering the flaws of others - beneficial for every man.
