أنفقْspend منfrom المالِthe wealth ماas much as استطعتَyou can فذوfor the possessor of الthe
أنفقْ من المالِ ما استطعتَ فذو ال
إنفاقspending يزدادُincreases رُتْبةًin rank وسَعَهْand abundance
إنفاق يزدادُ رُتْبةً وسَعَهْ
Spend as much wealth as you can, for one who
Spend what you can afford, for the generous
spends grows in rank and abundance.
In giving increase in rank and breadth.
فمنْso whoever أرادَdesires الخيراتِgood things فيin غدهhis tomorrow فليعطthen let him give
فمنْ أرادَ الخيراتِ في غده فليعط
أهلَpeople of الإفتارِpoverty ماwhat جَمَعَهْhe gathered it
أهلَ الإفتارِ ما جَمَعَهْ
So whoever desires good things for his tomorrow, let him give
Whoever desires good in their tomorrow, let them give
the needy what he has gathered.
To the destitute what they have gathered.
وليتقand let him fear اللهGod ربَّهُhis Lord فهوfor He الخلاقُthe Creator
وليتق الله ربَّهُ فهو الخلاقُ
وليَعْتَبرand let him take heed بماof what سمعَهْhe heard it
وليَعْتَبر بما سمعَهْ
And let him fear God, his Lord, for He is the Creator,
And let them fear God, their Lord, for He is the Creator,
and let him take heed of what he has heard.
And learn from what they have heard.
كمثلlike the example of والىthe governor of الإمامthe Imam سيدناour master
كمثل والى الإمام سيدنا
ذِىpossessed of الفضلِexcellence والجودِand generosity والتقىand piety جُمعَهْall of it together
ذِى الفضلِ والجودِ والتقى جُمعَهْ
As with the Imam’s governor, our master,
Like the guardian, our Imam Sir,
endowed with excellence, generosity, and piety, all together.
Of generosity, kindness, and piety brought together,
لاnot تجدyou find المنعَrefusal فيin سجيتهhis nature
لا تجد المنعَ في سجيته
انظرْlook ترىyou see أيwhich سائلpetitioner مَنَعْهhe refused him
انظرْ ترى أي سائل مَنَعْه
You find no refusal in his nature;
You will not find stinginess in his nature,
look and see—which petitioner has he turned away?
Look and see if any beggar was denied by him.
قدindeed زادهHe increased him اللهGod ثروةًwealth وغنىًand riches
قد زاده الله ثروةً وغنىً
كماjust as علاsurpassed كلَّevery حاكمٍruler رَفَعَهْHe exalted him
كما علا كلَّ حاكمٍ رَفَعَهْ
God has indeed increased his wealth and riches;
God has increased his wealth and riches,
just as he surpassed every ruler, He exalted him.
As He has raised every ruler He honored,
ولاand no فقيرٌpoor man تراهyou see him ذَاpossessing عُسُرhardship
ولا فقيرٌ تراه ذَا عُسُر
يلقَاهُmeets him إلاexcept that كساهُhe clothed him أوor نفعهْhe benefited him
يلقَاهُ إلا كساهُ أو نفعهْ
And no poor man you see in hardship
No poor man you see in hardship
meets him without being clothed or helped by him.
Meets him except he clothes or helps him.
