ستسقَى قوافِي الشعرِ بعدى وأعظمى
مغيبةٌburied فيin التُّرْبِthe dust وهيand they are رِمَامُdecayed remains
مغيبةٌ في التُّرْبِ وهي رِمَامُ
Poetry’s rhymes will be watered after me, while my bones
My poetry's rhymes will be watered after I am gone, and my greatest
lie buried in the dust, decayed remains.
Buried in the dust though now but relics.
ألاAh! ليتَwould that شعريmy knowing بعدُthereafter فيin أيwhat حالةٍstate
ألا ليتَ شعري بعدُ في أي حالةٍ

Ah, would that I knew what state I shall be in thereafter,
Oh, would that I knew after, how my state will be
when it is time for me to rise on the Day of Reckoning.
When comes the day I stand for final judgment.
