O Bilʿarab, the king, the just imam.

You are the noble youth, and through you the wayward man is set straight.

No one who hopes for your generous bounty is disappointed

among these mortals; yet the fault-finder is disappointed.

You are the vast, overflowing ocean, the sea that

has shamed the unhurried giver with its bounty.

So it is as though you pledged yourself, or swore

an oath that no petitioner would be disappointed.

And when the noble boast to one another of hardships,

and one day vie in merit, you are the one who excels.

And when the warriors hang back in a tight spot,

or recoil, you are the lion that presses on.
