لقدindeed آنَthe time has come أنْthat توفَيbe fulfilled العهودُthe pledges السوالفُof old
لقد آنَ أنْ توفَي العهودُ السوالفُ
لمنعهمfor restraining them موعودٌsomething promised ويأمنand feels safe خائفُone who fears
لمنعهم موعودٌ ويأمن خائفُ
The time has come to honor the pledges of old.
Indeed, the time has come for the pledges of old to be fulfilled.
Their refusal has an appointed end, and the fearful shall feel safe.
Something is promised for restraining them, and one who fears finds safety.
فأوفِso fulfill بوعدٍa promise سالفٍearlier كانwas بينناbetween us
فأوفِ بوعدٍ سالفٍ كان بيننا
فإبقاؤُهfor keeping it للبَرْحِof anguish والهمand worry كاشفُa dispeller
فإبقاؤُه للبَرْحِ والهم كاشفُ
So honor an earlier promise once made between us.
So fulfill an earlier promise that was between us.
For upholding it will dispel anguish and care.
For keeping it dispels anguish and worry.
ومثلُكand one like you لاdoes not ينسَىforget وإنeven if طالتgrew long المَدىthe span of time
ومثلُك لا ينسَى وإن طالت المَدى
ولاnor ينكرُdenies الشىءَthe thing الذيwhich هوhe عارفُaware
ولا ينكرُ الشىءَ الذي هو عارفُ
A man like you does not forget, however long the span may grow,
And one like you does not forget, however long the span of time.
nor will one who knows deny noble qualities.
Nor does he deny what he knows.
أذكركI remind you العهدَthe pledge الذيthat كانَwas بيننَاbetween us
أذكرك العهدَ الذي كانَ بيننَا
وإنْand although كنتَyou were لمnot تنسَyou forget الذيwhat أناI واصِفُdescribing
وإنْ كنتَ لم تنسَ الذي أنا واصِفُ
I remind you of the pledge once made between us,
I remind you of the pledge that was between us,
though you have not forgotten what I am describing.
Even though you have not forgotten what I describe.
ومنand among عجبيmy astonishment أنِّيthat I أعرِّفُكI explain to you الوفاfaithfulness
ومن عجبي أنِّي أعرِّفُك الوفا
وأنتwhile you بحمدِwith praise to اللهِGod بالحالof the situation عارفُaware
وأنت بحمدِ اللهِ بالحال عارفُ
And it amazes me that I should teach you fidelity,
And it astonishes me that I explain faithfulness to you,
when, praise be to God, you know the circumstances well.
While you, praise be to God, know the situation.
فأوفِso fulfill وبادرand hasten واعلُand rise high واشرفْand be noble وقلand speak وعِدand promise
فأوفِ وبادر واعلُ واشرفْ وقل وعِد
ومرْand command واسترحْand rest وارفُقْand be gentle وبئسand wretched is المخالفُthe dissenter
ومرْ واسترحْ وارفُقْ وبئس المخالفُ
Fulfill it; make haste, rise and be noble; speak, and promise.
So fulfill your promise, hasten, rise high, be noble, speak, and promise.
Command, rest easy, and be gentle—wretched is the one who breaks his word.
And command, rest, and be gentle; wretched is the dissenter.
