There is no good in a person's haste, O my confidant,

when it is out of place—and the matter is settled.

And likewise with slackness when it is out of place,

in every circumstance—and this saying is clear.

If you do not put things in their proper places,

you do wrong; the matter is serious, and whim is blameworthy.

So praise for a person's haste is constant

when giving a gift, and delay is censured.
