أهْدى السلامَ إلى الكريم المفضلِ

البطل الرئيس القُلَّبِ الحُوَّلِ

I offer greetings to the generous benefactor,

I send greetings of peace to the generous, preferred one

The hero and chief, resourceful and ingenious,

The prime hero, the adept and skillful one

زاكِى الأرومةِ سيدٍ متواضعٍ

زاكِى الأرومةِ سيدٍ متواضعٍ

محيي النَّدَى مُضْنِى العِدَى بالمتْصلِ

محيي النَّدَى مُضْنِى العِدَى بالمتْصلِ

Of pure lineage, a humble lord,

Of fragrant nobility, a humble master

Reviver of generosity, exhausting foes with the blade [probable reading],

Reviver of freshness, avenger with the drawn sword

مولى الموالِى حميدِ بن المرتضى

مولى الموالِى حميدِ بن المرتضى

سلطانِ سيفِ اليعرب الأنبلِ

سلطانِ سيفِ اليعرب الأنبلِ

Master of masters, Humayd, son of the esteemed

Master of the loyalists, Hamid son of Murtada

Sultan, the noblest sword of Ya‘rub.

Sultan of the sword of the eminent Arabs

أكرمْ به مِنْ علمٍ متورعٍ

أكرمْ به مِنْ علمٍ متورعٍ

أهلِ السِّيَادةِ والجنابِ الأْفضلِ

أهلِ السِّيَادةِ والجنابِ الأْفضلِ

How noble he is—a scrupulously pious luminary,

Honor him with the knowledge of an abstemious one

Worthy of lordship and the finest standing,

The people of sovereignty and most distinguished nobility

أهلِ السماحةِ والفصاحةِ والحجا

أهلِ السماحةِ والفصاحةِ والحجا

وابنِ الحجاجحة الليوثِ اليُسَّلِ

وابنِ الحجاجحة الليوثِ اليُسَّلِ

Possessed of generosity, eloquence, and wisdom,

The people of generosity, eloquence and argument

And son of mighty chiefs, the valiant lions.

And son of the defenders, the roaring lions

يا ابنَ الأول آثارُهم مذكورةٌ

يا ابنَ الأول آثارُهم مذكورةٌ

وقلوبهم وحلومُهم كالأجْبُلِ

وقلوبهم وحلومُهم كالأجْبُلِ

O son of forebears whose deeds are remembered,

O son of the first, their traces are mentioned

And whose hearts and judgment are like mountains.

And their hearts and bodies are like granite

هُنِّيتَ بالعيدِ الذي عائِدٌ

هُنِّيتَ بالعيدِ الذي عائِدٌ

بالفضلِ والإحسانِ غير مُبَدَّلِ

بالفضلِ والإحسانِ غير مُبَدَّلِ

Joy to you on the feast that returns

You were congratulated on the recurring feast

With bounty and kindness, unchanged.

With kindness and favor that does not change

لا زِلْت في عَلْيَاكَ دهراص خالداً

لا زِلْت في عَلْيَاكَ دهراص خالداً

في نعمةٍ تترى وَجَدّ مُقْبِلِ

في نعمةٍ تترى وَجَدّ مُقْبِلِ

May you remain forever in your lofty station, through the ages,

You have continued in your sublimity, eternally enduring

Amid blessings in succession and favorable fortune.

In bounty that is seen, arriving

ترعى النعيمَ مخلَّداً في لذةٍ

ترعى النعيمَ مخلَّداً في لذةٍ

متنعماً بتشرفٍ وتَفَضُّلِ

متنعماً بتشرفٍ وتَفَضُّلِ

You enjoy bliss, abiding forever in delight,

You enjoy eternal bliss in pleasure

Living in pleasure, with honor and generosity.

Honored and ennobled with distinction

فاشرفْ شرفتَ بمنطقٍ وشمائلٍ

فاشرفْ شرفتَ بمنطقٍ وشمائلٍ

وفضائلٍ مترونةٍ بِتَجملِ

وفضائلٍ مترونةٍ بِتَجملِ

So be exalted: you are ennobled by speech and character,

You have been ennobled with eloquence and fine traits

And virtues joined to graceful bearing.

And accumulated virtues of perfection

أنتَ الندَى وأبو الندى وأخو الندى

أنتَ الندَى وأبو الندى وأخو الندى

حُزْتَ المَدى فأربعْ بأرفْع منزل

حُزْتَ المَدى فأربعْ بأرفْع منزل

You are generosity, the father of generosity and the brother of generosity.

You are freshness, father of freshness and brother of freshness

You have attained the utmost; settle in the loftiest abode.

You have attained the ultimate rank, most high

لكَ همَّةٌ قعساء في النعماء ما

لكَ همَّةٌ قعساء في النعماء ما

تزدادُ إلا رفعةً بتنقلِ

تزدادُ إلا رفعةً بتنقلِ

Yours is indomitable resolve amid prosperity, which

You have lofty ambition among the blessings that

Only grows loftier with each advance.

Only increase in elevation with transition

لقدِ ارتقيتَ بهَا رقيّاًعالياً

لقدِ ارتقيتَ بهَا رقيّاًعالياً

حتى علوتَ على السّماكِ الأعْزَلِ

حتى علوتَ على السّماكِ الأعْزَلِ

Indeed, through it you have made a lofty ascent,

You have truly ascended most high

Until you rose above Simak the Unarmed.

Until you rose above the starless sky

فابقِ البقاءَ السرمدي معظماً

فابقِ البقاءَ السرمدي معظماً

ومعذّراً في الجُودِ غيرَ مُعَذَّلِ

ومعذّراً في الجُودِ غيرَ مُعَذَّلِ

So live on eternally, held in honor,

So remain with eternal existence, glorified

And excused in generosity, never reproached.

And excused in generosity, not debased

وعليكَ ألفُ تحيةٍ ومسرةٍ

وعليكَ ألفُ تحيةٍ ومسرةٍ

وسلامةٍ تَتْرَى بغيرِ تبدُّلِ

وسلامةٍ تَتْرَى بغيرِ تبدُّلِ

And upon you be a thousand greetings and joys,

And a thousand greetings and joys upon you

And well-being in succession, without change,

And well-being that is seen without change

مِن خادمٍ صافِي المودةِ مخلصٍ

مِن خادمٍ صافِي المودةِ مخلصٍ

لكَ وده وهو المحبُّ المعْولِى

لكَ وده وهو المحبُّ المعْولِى

From a servant of pure affection, sincerely devoting

From a servant pure of affection, loyal

His love to you—he is the loving al-Ma‘wali.

To you, his love and reliance

ثمَّ الصلاةُ على النبيِّ محمدٍ

ثمَّ الصلاةُ على النبيِّ محمدٍ

خيرِ الورَى الزاكي النبيِّ المرسَلِ

خيرِ الورَى الزاكي النبيِّ المرسَلِ

Then blessings upon the Prophet Muhammad,

Then prayers upon the Prophet Muhammad

The best of creation, the pure Prophet sent forth.

The best of creation, the prosperous sent Prophet
