وكم من فتى يسعى ويحرم دائبا

وكم من فتى يسعى ويحرم دائبا

وآخر يؤتى رزقه وهو عاجز

وآخر يؤتى رزقه وهو عاجز

And many a young man strives tirelessly, yet is deprived;

How many a youth strives and is deprived

And another is given his sustenance though he is incapable.

While another is granted his livelihood, helpless

وربتما نال الكرامة ألكنٌ

وربتما نال الكرامة ألكنٌ

وأُخِّرَ عن نيل المطالب راجز

وأُخِّرَ عن نيل المطالب راجز

And sometimes a tongue-tied man has attained honor,

Perhaps an unworthy man attains glory

While a rajaz poet has been held back from attaining his aims.

Yet a worthy one fails, disappointed
