اشربdrink هَنيئاًwith pleasure لاعداكَmay it not pass you by الطربdelight
اشرب هَنيئاً لاعداكَ الطرب
شُربَthe drinking of كَريمٍa nobleman فيin العلاeminence منتخبchosen
شُربَ كَريمٍ في العلا منتخب
Drink with pleasure—may delight never pass you by—
Drink happily, may your joy never cease
as a nobleman chosen for eminence drinks.
A noble drink, exquisitely refined
وافاكhe came to you بالراحِwith wine وَقَدand already أُلبِسَتit was clothed
وافاك بالراحِ وَقَد أُلبِسَت
بُردَa mantle أَصيلٍlate afternoon مُعلماًembroidered بالحببwith bubbles
بُردَ أَصيلٍ مُعلماً بالحبب
He brought you wine, already clothed
It comes to you with comfort, having been
in a mantle of late afternoon, embroidered with bubbles,
Clothed in fine, pure silk adorned with seeds
فيin قدحٍa goblet لَمnot يَكُwas يُسقىgiven drink بِهِfrom it
في قدحٍ لَم يَكُ يُسقى بِهِ
غيرother than أُوليpossessors of المَجدِglory وَأَهلِand people of الحسبnoble standing
غير أُولي المَجدِ وَأَهلِ الحسب
in a goblet from which none was given drink
In a chalice never before used
but men of glory and noble standing.
Except by the glorious and noble ones
ماجارhe did no wrong إِذاwhen سقاكhe gave you drink مِنfrom كَفِّهhis palm
ماجار إِذا سقاك مِن كَفِّه
فيin جامِدsolid الفضَّةِsilver ذَوبَmolten الذهبgold
في جامِد الفضَّةِ ذَوبَ الذهب
He did you no wrong when, from his palm, he served you
If he pours it for you from his hand
molten gold in solid silver.
In solid silver gilt with gold
فَقُمso stand عَلىupon رأسكyour head براout of devotion بِهِto him
فَقُم عَلى رأسك برا بِهِ
واشربand drink عَلىin ذِكراهُremembrance of him طولَthroughout الحقبthe ages
واشرب عَلى ذِكراهُ طولَ الحقب
So stand upon your head in homage to him,
Then stand up for him with utmost good
and drink in remembrance of him through the ages.
And drink to his memory for ages to come
