وَكأَنَّand as though المياهَthe waters فيهاwithin it ثَعابينُserpents
وَكأَنَّ المياهَ فيها ثَعابينُ
لَجَينِof silver تَبَعَّثَتstirred into motion فيin السواقيthe irrigation channels
لَجَينِ تَبَعَّثَت في السواقي
And as though the waters within it were serpents
And as if in the water snakes
Of silver, stirred into motion in the irrigation channels;
Swimming, set loose in the waterways
وَكأَنَّand as though الحصباءَthe pebbles فيin رونِقsheen الماءthe water
وَكأَنَّ الحصباءَ في رونِق الماء
سَناgleam الدُرِّof pearls فيin بَياضwhiteness التَراقيthe collarbones
سَنا الدُرِّ في بَياض التَراقي
And as though the pebbles in the water’s sheen
And as if the pebbles in the water's glow
Were the gleam of pearls against the whiteness of collarbones.
Were pearls set loose on banks of snow
