عَلىat حينa time when ماnot بيin me مِنany رِياضٍtaming لِصَعبَةٍfor an unruly she-camel
عَلى حين ما بي مِن رِياضٍ لِصَعبَةٍ
وَبَرَّحَand tormented بِيَme أَنقاضُهُنَّtheir worn-out she-camels الرَجائِعُwearied by repeated journeys
وَبَرَّحَ بِيَ أَنقاضُهُنَّ الرَجائِعُ
At a time when I am in no state to tame an unruly she-camel,
While the gardens are still hard for me to reach
And their worn-out, journey-weary she-camels have tormented me.
Their ruins have let me go back to them
