وَرِثناwe inherited المَجدَglory عَنfrom آباءِforefathers صِدقِintegrity
وَرِثنا المَجدَ عَن آباءِ صِدقِ
أَسَأناwe did ill فيin دِيارِهُمُtheir dwellings الصَنيعاconduct
أَسَأنا في دِيارِهُمُ الصَنيعا
We inherited glory from forefathers of integrity;
We inherited glory from our honest fathers.
We behaved badly in their dwellings.
We did wrong in their lands.
إِذاwhen الحَسَبُancestral honor الرَفيعَlofty تَواكَلَتهُleft its care to one another
إِذا الحَسَبُ الرَفيعَ تَواكَلَتهُ
بُناةُbuilders السوءِevil أَوشَكَwas about أَنto يَضيعاbe lost
بُناةُ السوءِ أَوشَكَ أَن يَضيعا
When lofty ancestral honor is left untended
When high morals are abandoned,
by unworthy builders, it is about to be lost.
Evil builders will soon destroy it.
