God! Those men left Ibn Humayyir

slain, struck down by the cleaving swords.

Indeed, they left behind prudence, steadfast resolve, and bounty,

and endurance on the scowling, grim day.

When every lion feared death's watering place,

massive of girth, his wits absent,

he pressed straight ahead until he reached his own watering place,

and bestowed bounty in the years that bared their teeth.
