هَراقَتْ بَنو عَوْفٍ دَماً غَيْرَ واحِدٍ

لَهُ نَبأ نَجْدِيُّهُ سَيَغُورُ

Banū ʿAwf have shed the blood of more than one man;

The sons of ʿAwf have shed the blood of more than one;

word of it will come down from Najd.

There is news of it: its tidings in Najd will reach the lowlands.

تَداعَتْ لَهُ أفْناءُ عَوْفٍ ولَمْ يَكُنْ

لَهُ يومَ هَضْبِ الرَّدْهَتَيْنِ نَصِيرُ

The subdivisions of ʿAwf rallied to his aid, though

The clans of ʿAwf rallied against him, and there was no
