تَأوَّبنيrevisited me by night بعارمَةat ʿĀrimah الهُمومُsorrows
تَأوَّبني بعارمَة الهُمومُ
كماjust as يَعْتادُrepeatedly visits ذاthe one with الدَّيْنَdebt الغريمُthe creditor
كما يَعْتادُ ذا الدَّيْنَ الغريمُ
Sorrows revisited me by night at ʿĀrimah,
Suffering has saddled me with anxiety’s saddlebags
as a creditor keeps visiting the debtor.
As debt saddles him who is deeply in debt
