أيالَ قُريشٍ أصلحوا ذات بيننا

أيالَ قُريشٍ أصلحوا ذات بيننا

وبينكم قد طالَ حبلُ التماحُكِ

وبينكم قد طالَ حبلُ التماحُكِ

O clan of Quraysh, mend relations between us

O Quraysh, make peace between us,

and you; the rope of contention has grown long.

For long has the rope of dissension lasted between us.

فلا خيرَ فيكُم بعدنا فارفقوا بنا

فلا خيرَ فيكُم بعدنا فارفقوا بنا

ولا خيرَ فينا بعد فهرِ بن مالكِ

ولا خيرَ فينا بعد فهرِ بن مالكِ

There is no good in you without us, so be gentle with us;

There is no good in you after us, so treat us leniently,

Nor is there good in us without Fihr ibn Malik.

And no good in us after, so search for Ibn Malik.

كلانا على الأعداءِ كفٌّ طويلةٌ

كلانا على الأعداءِ كفٌّ طويلةٌ

إذا كان يومٌ فيه جَبُّ الحوارك

إذا كان يومٌ فيه جَبُّ الحوارك

Both of us are a long-reaching hand against our enemies,

Both of us are hands long in striking enemies,

When a day comes in which withers are hewn off.

When the day comes for charging cavalry.

فلا تذكروا ما كان منَّا ومنكُمُ

فلا تذكروا ما كان منَّا ومنكُمُ

ففي ذكرِ ما قد كانَ مشيُ التساؤُكِ

ففي ذكرِ ما قد كانَ مشيُ التساؤُكِ

So do not recall what was done by us and by you;

So mention not what was between us and you,

For in recalling what has passed lies a tottering gait.

For in recalling what is past comes mutual reviling.
