or a breeze softly stirs your hair before dawn,

Or a breeze has gently rustled your hair at dawn,

or a melodious voice sings of love,

Or a voice of joy has sung of love,

او تبلل كفك بقطر المطر

او تبلل كفك بقطر المطر

او تبسم بالسما نجم جنوب

او تبسم بالسما نجم جنوب

or your palm is moistened with raindrops,

Or a raindrop has wet your hand,

or a southern star smiles in the sky,

Or a star of the south has smiled in the sky,

او ضحك وردٍ على عودِ خضر

او ضحك وردٍ على عودِ خضر

او نقل لك نفحة خزامي هبوب

او نقل لك نفحة خزامي هبوب

or roses laugh upon a green stem,

Or a rose has laughed on a green branch,

or a breeze carries you a waft of lavender,

Or a morning breeze has brought you a scent,

او تهادى موج في شط البحر

او تهادى موج في شط البحر

ينشد الراحه بعد يوم تعوب

or a wave glides gently along the seashore,

Or a wave in the sea of the harbor

seeking rest after a wearisome day,

Has sought rest after a tiring day,

او خيال من قديم امسك حضر

او خيال من قديم امسك حضر

يستفز القلب بالصوت العتوب

يستفز القلب بالصوت العتوب

or a vision from your bygone yesterday appears,

Or an old fantasy has prevailed,

stirring the heart with a reproachful voice,

Tempting the heart with its charming voice,

او تجاسر فكر في ليلة حذر

او تجاسر فكر في ليلة حذر

يسترد الحلم من درب الهروب

يسترد الحلم من درب الهروب

or a thought grows bold on a wary night,

Or a cautious thought has dared in the night

reclaiming the dream from the path of escape,
