Sixty years have passed, and the old man is a child.
Sixty passed and the old man a child
I am only just learning in life's Qur'anic schools.
I'm still learning in the schools of life

كل ما جيت استره يكشف غطاه
Sixty years have passed, yet ignorance remains.
Sixty passed, ignorance still
Whenever I try to conceal it, it lifts its veil.
Whenever I try to hide it, it uncovers its cover

Sixty years have passed; my mind has not caught fire.
Sixty passed, my mind hasn't ignited
Whenever I kindle its ember, my time puts it out.
Whenever its sparks ignite, my time extinguishes it

Sixty years have passed; my path is still unfinished.
Sixty passed, my path isn't complete
I stand at its beginning, contemplating its reach.
Standing at its beginning, contemplating its length

I have not finished with yesterday, and here is tomorrow's light.
I haven't finished yesterday and tomorrow is already old

Every day I say there is hope in tomorrow.
Each day I say tomorrow holds hope
And when tomorrow arrives, I hope for what comes after it.
And when tomorrow comes, I hope for what's after it

واقنص القاع الذي ما احد وطاه
I raise my hopes even if my luck falls.
I raise my expectations if my luck declines
And I hunt for ground that no one has trodden.
And pick the bottom that no one has reached before me

يخجل اللي يقدر الطيب وعصاه
There is no shame in seeking noble deeds.
I didn't seek boilers out of shame
The one who can do good yet defies it should feel shame.
Ashamed of one who can afford goodness yet disobeys

The years are poems, and the poet is a parable.
The years are poems and the poet an example
Whoever sees with the mind and reads him understands him.
Understood by one who sees with intellect and reads it

Every verse has lived a life within my own.
Each verse lived a life in my life
