I, the deserts, the rain, the horse, and the birds,
I am with the deserts, the rain, the horse, and the bird
And lavender plants, the gazelle, and poetry are companions.
And the sprouting chamomile, the gazelle, and the poetry flowing

I built my verses from poetry, and poetry is an expression
I built houses of poetry, and poetry is an expression
Of the past, the present, and what will be and what was.
Of the past, present, and what will and has been

I love hunting in wilderness no one else has trodden,
I love hunting in the barren land not trodden by others
And a horse’s back, where all honor has its arena,
And the neigh of a horse whose bravery has the field

And the sight of a pool where the late-afternoon sun trembles,
And the sight of a pond where a morning sun trembles
And a red dune after rain, untrodden by any human,
And the tracks of red deer after the rain not seen by people

And watching the sandgrouse: one flock alights, another flies,
And the flock of partridges settling and a flock flying
And a gazelle’s leap that warned the heedless among the gazelles.
And the startled leap of a vigilant gazelle unaware of flirtation

وريحand the scent of النفلclover هيضstirred شجونيmy sorrows وأناand I ولهانyearning
The sun has gone, a full moon has appeared, and the stars move on.
A sun that has set, a full moon risen, and stars journeying
And the scent of clover has stirred my sorrows, while I yearn.
And the breeze of mulberry gently stirring my lamentations and infatuations

And at night I kindle the fire, with contemplation as my guest.
And at night I kindle a fire with my guest, thought
And in thought, the gleam of the star and the fires strikes sparks.
And with thought, the glimmer of stars and fireflies ignite

I stir my fire’s embers, and within me is a similar smoldering:
I turn embers and within me they keep smoldering
Sparks and sparks, and night, and a bewildered lover.
Sparks and sparks, a perplexed night and inflamed passion
