to reach you despite the closing of the wide spaces,

to embrace the anguish within your breast.

And ill fate binds me to you,

and so does what joined us in pain and affliction,

just as I am enfolded in you by memories,

and the sweetness of hopes, and white desires.

in attaining my wishes and braving the billows.

Should I repent? Glory forbid! On what day

two wings of pleasure and melancholy.

lulling it with wishes and desires.

and build it free, with dignified expanses.

And none but God has over them

any claim to bring punishment down upon them.

And you, if indeed my letter reaches you,

and you clasp my hand in the letter's folds,
