Were I to marvel at anything, I would be amazed by
If I were to marvel at anything, what would amaze me is
a young man’s striving, while fate lies hidden in store for him.
a young man's striving, while fate lies hidden from him.

وَالنَفسُ واحِدَةٌ وَالهَمُّ مُنتَشِرُ
A young man strives after things that he will not attain,
The young man strives for things he will not attain,
though he has but one soul, while his cares spread far and wide.
And the soul is one, yet its cares are scattered.

لا تَنتَهي العَينُ حَتّى يَنتَهي الأَثَرُ
As long as a man lives, hope stretches out before him;
And as long as a man lives, hope stretches out before him;
the eye does not cease to look until life’s trail comes to an end.
The eye does not cease until the trace comes to an end.
