Whenever the wind blows gently from the land of the Hijaz,
When the breeze from the land of Hijaz caresses me
I feel coolness upon my liver as it passes—
I feel its touch cool upon my heart

Upon my liver, where love has nearly revealed
Upon my heart, where love had almost revealed
Fissures—yet some people think me steadfast.
Cracks, though others thought me impassive
