O knight who left the battlefield
O knight who left the fortress
Defenseless after his departure—and the men, too.
Lonely after him, though men remain

Great is the calamity of your loss, O vanquisher of a mighty conqueror,
Great is the peril that faces you, vanquishing
Who readies a battle for every calamity.
Every daring conqueror, and challenging all

Thought strives in vain, however far it roams
What you attain by intuition and improvisation.
To match your feats, so nimble and impromptu

Necks, bearing yourself proudly with dignity and majesty:
Imposing, majestic, and sublime
