    a free man seeking hospitality, setting down his saddle.

    with heads bowed before it in fear.

    within its covers, how many deaths have been crammed in.

    its two fangs grinding against their flesh.

    the letters become clear through these dots.

    وأيِّ نوىً تعاوَرهُمْ قَذوف

    and what far-flung separations shall assail them in turn;

    رَءومٌ في مراضِعها رَءوف

    nor for which unborn child a mother yields her milk,

    loving, compassionate at her breasts;

    nor by which hands you fall,

    nor which poisons you blend for them.
