Before you mourn the wasted genius,

curse whoever brought about these conditions.

Curse whoever wished that you and those like you should die

of grief, and that you should all go to waste.

my ear hear what it cannot bear to hear.

Roam with me on a tour that shows you contempt

for the people—and ignorance and misery, all together.

his honor, which he holds too dear to be sold.

After ten years that passed slowly and heavily,

as when winds opposed a sail,

they made us know pain, kind after kind,

and showed us death, hour after hour.

we have brought about through wrongdoing and contrivance?

If we asked that blood, it would say,

while boiling with fervor and impetuous zeal:

May God fill your homes with my image:

a terrifying specter that shakes the marrow.

    distrust your sight and hearing.

You would take people for green scorpions,

and see the roads filled with hyenas,

and the nights grim-faced, with no star in them,

and the days would pass, black and swift.

for the souls you sent flying apart.

where I flowed, nor did you defend them well.

These goods are so paltry that God would surely forbid

your opening a vein in an arm for their sake.

his feet, and to whom I granted the villages and estates:

    outrages, come to one resolve:

End this struggle, O blood, between the people

and oppression; you have prolonged the struggle.
