My poems, in love's winds, are a caravan

of funerals: I mourn them, and they mourn me.

I escorted them to burial—and behold, the stars follow me,

and night pants behind me and envelops me.

If you have never known a graveyard on earth

that walks—here, fair one, is my book of poems.

All the titles are my death, without tombs,

and death alone is my address among the living.

Come, turn a page—but with caution:

for what you are turning now is my corpse.

Be gentle with it, for it is secrets shrouded

in silence, borne in the coffin of my concealment.

Be gentle with the first corpse that unites us

in a funeral gathering of metaphors and meters.

Then turn another page—it will delight me

to meet you in my second corpse.
