Indeed, I swear by the Lord of the deceitful poet,
I swear by the Lord of the vainglorious poet
And by Him who raises the dead from their graves,
And the Resurrector of the dead from the graves
وَعالِمِand by the knower of المَكنونِwhat is hidden فيin الضَميرِthe heart
وَعالِمِ المَكنونِ في الضَميرِ
إِنif رُمتَyou aim for مِنهاof her مَعقَرَthe hamstringing-place of الجَزورِthe slaughter-camel
إِن رُمتَ مِنها مَعقَرَ الجَزورِ
And by Him who knows what is hidden in the heart:
And the Knower of the hidden in the conscience
If you aim at her where a slaughter-camel is hamstrung,
If you attack it, hitting the solid rocks
لَأَثِبَنَّI shall surely leap وِثبَةَthe leap of المُغيرِthe raider
لَأَثِبَنَّ وِثبَةَ المُغيرِ
الذيبِthe wolf أَوor ذيthe one with اللِبدَةِthe mane الهَصورِthe fierce one
الذيبِ أَو ذي اللِبدَةِ الهَصورِ
I shall surely spring with a raider’s leap—
I will pounce with the leap of the warrior
A wolf’s, or that of the fierce, maned lion—
The wolf or the hissing serpent
