Woe to the mother of a people we raided at dawn with marked steeds,

Between the stony ridges of Shayban and the hills,

The nearest kin—yet their kinship did not help them,

And the afflicted—yet they did not complain of the pain.

I pierced Jissas with the spear and said to him:

Indeed, I am a man whose lineage was from Banu Jusham.
