You have ennobled the Sea of Rum, O sea of bounty;
You have honored the Sea of the Romans, O sea of bounty.
And each of you is a sea with bounties of its own.
And both of you are seas, each with its bounties.

But it is salty, while your beneficence is palatable—
Yet it is salty, while your kindness is pleasant to drink,
sweet, a cure for the affliction of the needy.
Sweet—a cure for the affliction of the needy.

A sea—generosity has ennobled its surface;
A sea—because generosity has ennobled its surface,
Through it gold flowed, while water stood still.
Gold flowed in it, and the water stood still.
