I invoked the Lord of mankind's protection for our master
I sought refuge with the Lord of mankind
From the evil of a scheming, slinking aggressor.
From the evil of a deceitful, sly garden

And I guarded him from the envious one's plotting, for he
And I was protected from the envy of the envious one for he
Forever whispers in the breasts of mankind.
Always whispers malice into the hearts of people

And I shielded him from an ignorant aggressor, tireless
And I was shielded from the harm of an ignorant, incessant one
In scheming—reckoning fives against sixes.

For our esteemed one's worth lies in his two smaller organs—his heart
So you who are dear to us, have a heart
And his tongue, not in the blazing of his head.
And tongue for the little ones, not an inflamed head

And indeed, we have known you as a noble statesman,
And we knew you had the generosity of statesmanship
Through whose lofty wisdom the hard-hearted grow gentle.
With great wisdom that softens the harsh
