حَمَدناكَwe praised you بالعُرفِfor the kindness الَّذيwhich قَدindeed صَنَعتَهُyou did it
حَمَدناكَ بالعُرفِ الَّذي قَد صَنَعتَهُ
كَماjust as حَمَدpraised الساريthe night traveler السُرىnight travel حينَwhen أَصبَحاhe reached daybreak
كَما حَمَد الساري السُرى حينَ أَصبَحا
We praised you for the kindness you have shown,
We praise you for the customary kindness you have shown,
As the night traveler praised his night journey at daybreak.
Just as the one freed praises the act of manumission at dawn.
