إِن الحَديثَ تَغُرُّ القَومَ خلوَتُهُ

حَتّى يَلِجَّ بِهِم عيٌّ وَإِكثارُ

حَتّى يَلِجَّ بِهِم عيٌّ وَإِكثارُ

Indeed, the privacy of conversation beguiles the company,

Indeed, gossip entices people in seclusion

until inarticulacy and excessive talk carry them too far.

Until shame and much evil plunge into them
