وَماand not الناسُthe people أَعطَوكَgave you الخِلافَةَthe caliphate عُنوَةًby force
وَما الناسُ أَعطَوكَ الخِلافَةَ عُنوَةً
وَلَكِنَّهُbut it is that مَنwhoever يُعلِهِraises him اللَهُGod يَستَعليrises high
وَلَكِنَّهُ مَن يُعلِهِ اللَهُ يَستَعلي
It was not the people who conferred the caliphate upon you by force;
The people did not grant you the caliphate by force;
rather, whoever God exalts shall rise on high.
But whoever God exalts rises high.
