If one day a tempting prospect assails me, I assail it,
with battalions of people—their charge and pursuit.
أَمصُّI sip ثِماديmy scant pools وَالمياهُwhile the waters كَثيرَةٌare plentiful

I sip from my scant pools, though waters are plentiful;
I labor to draw from them, digging and scraping them out.
وَأَرضىand I am content بِهاwith them مِنrather than بَحرِa sea آخَرَanother إِنَّهُindeed it

And I am content with them rather than another sea; indeed,
it is sound judgment for souls to be content with their scant pools.
