وَإِنَّand indeed الكَريمَthe generous man مَنone who يُكرِّمُhonors مُعسِراًa needy man
وَإِنَّ الكَريمَ مَن يُكرِّمُ مُعسِراً
عَلىdespite ماwhat اِعتَراهُhas befallen him لاnot يُكرَمُis honored ذاone possessing يُسرِwealth
عَلى ما اِعتَراهُ لا يُكرَمُ ذا يُسرِ
And indeed, the generous man is one who honors a needy man,
The generous man honors the one in need
Despite what has befallen him; a man of means is not honored.
Despite what afflicts him, he who is wealthy is not honored
وَماand not غَيَّرتنيchanged me ضَجرَةٌvexation عَنfrom تَكَرُّميmy generosity
وَما غَيَّرتني ضَجرَةٌ عَن تَكَرُّمي
وَلاand not عابَfound fault with أَضيافيmy guests غِنايَmy wealth وَلاnor فَقريmy poverty
وَلا عابَ أَضيافي غِنايَ وَلا فَقري
And no vexation has turned me away from my generosity,
No weariness has changed my generosity
And my guests have faulted neither my wealth nor my poverty.
Nor the reproach of my guests, my wealth or poverty
