أَشرَقَ المَشرِقُ بِال

مُعتزِّ بِاللَّهِ وَلاحا

مُعتزِّ بِاللَّهِ وَلاحا

The East shone with al-

Muʿtazz bi-llāh and gleamed.

With pride in God, radiating light.

وَاِستَنار العَهد حَتّى

وَاِستَنار العَهد حَتّى

شَقّ في اللَّيلِ صَباحا

شَقّ في اللَّيلِ صَباحا

And the reign grew radiant, until

The era was illuminated until

it carved out a dawn within the night.

It pierced the night with morning glow.

أَوسع اللَّه به ال

أَوسع اللَّه به ال

أُمَّة عَدلا وَسَماحا

أُمَّة عَدلا وَسَماحا

Through him, God lavished upon the
