فَدَعني راغِماً أَشقى بِوَجدي

وَخُذ قَلبي إِلَيكَ بِغَيرِ حَمدِ

وَخُذ قَلبي إِلَيكَ بِغَيرِ حَمدِ

So leave me, abased, to suffer from my longing.

And take my heart to yourself, without thanks.

سَقام لا تَرِقّ عَلَيَّ مِنهُ

سَقام لا تَرِقّ عَلَيَّ مِنهُ

وَوجد لا تُكافِئهُ بِوُدِّ

وَوجد لا تُكافِئهُ بِوُدِّ

A sickness for which you show me no pity,

And a longing you do not repay with affection.

بِنَفسي مَن إِساءَتُه اِعتِمادٌ

بِنَفسي مَن إِساءَتُه اِعتِمادٌ

وَمَن إِحسانُه عَن غَيرِ عَمدِ

وَمَن إِحسانُه عَن غَيرِ عَمدِ

My life be ransom for the one whose ill-treatment is deliberate,

And the one whose kindness is unintentional,

وَمَن أصفَيتُه في الوُدّ جُهدي

وَمَن أصفَيتُه في الوُدّ جُهدي

فَعارَضَ في الجَفاءِ بِمِثلِ جهدي

فَعارَضَ في الجَفاءِ بِمِثلِ جهدي

And the one to whom I devoted all my effort in love,

Yet he countered in coldness with effort equal to mine.
