She said, “If you fear gray hair and old age,
She said: "If you fear the coming of gray hair and old age,
Death surely takes the valiant young man unawares.

فَلَيسَfor … is not خائِفone who fears يَومfor a day وهوwhile he is ذوpossessing أَملhope
فَلَيسَ خائِف يَوم وهو ذو أَمل
كَخائِفlike one who fears دهرهthroughout his lifetime مُستوفَزاًrestless وَجِلاafraid
كَخائِف دهره مُستوفَزاً وَجِلا
For one who fears for a day, yet has hope, is not
So one whose hopes are high fears not a single day,
Like one who fears all his life, restless and afraid.”
As one who fears for lifelong what each morn may bring."
