أَبصَرتَهُ في بَدَني

may your enemies suffer what

What befell your enemies

you have seen in my body.

You saw in my body

أَبصَرتُ في بَدر الدُّجى

أَبصَرتُ في بَدر الدُّجى

مشابِهاً من سَكَني

مشابِهاً من سَكَني

I saw in the full moon of night

I saw in the full moon

a likeness of my beloved.

Something resembling my dwelling

أعرف مِنها شَبَهاً

أعرف مِنها شَبَهاً

في كُلِّ شَيء حسنِ

في كُلِّ شَيء حسنِ

I recognize a likeness of her

I recognize in it

in every beautiful thing.

وَقائِلٍ دَع حُبّها

وَقائِلٍ دَع حُبّها

فَقُلت لا يَتركني

فَقُلت لا يَتركني

And someone said, "Give up loving her";

And someone saying leave her love

so I said, "It will not leave me:

قَلبيَ وَالحُبُّ مَعاً

قَد جُمِعا في قَرَن
