بَلَوتُ الزَّمان وَأَهل الزَّمان

بَلَوتُ الزَّمان وَأَهل الزَّمان

فَكُلٌّ بذَمّ وَلؤم حَقيقُ

فَكُلٌّ بذَمّ وَلؤم حَقيقُ

I have tested time and the people of time;

So each is truly blameworthy and base.

فَأَوحَشَني من صَديقي الزَّمان

فَأَوحَشَني من صَديقي الزَّمان

وَآنسَني بِالعَدُوِّ الصَّديقُ

وَآنسَني بِالعَدُوِّ الصَّديقُ

Time estranged me from my friend,

And my friend made me feel at ease with the enemy.
