دَعوتُكI called upon you فيin بَلوىan ordeal أَلَمّتbefell صُروفُهاits vicissitudes
دَعوتُك في بَلوى أَلَمّت صُروفُها
فَأَوقَدتthen you kindled منout of ضِغنrancor عَليَّagainst me سعيرَهاits blaze
فَأَوقَدت من ضِغن عَليَّ سعيرَها
I called upon you amid an ordeal whose blows had fallen;
I called you in afflictions whose turns pained me
Then, out of rancor, you kindled its blaze against me.
So you ignited against me its raging fire
فَإِنّيfor indeed I إِذاwhen أَدعوكI call upon you عندat a time of مُلِمّةcalamity
فَإِنّي إِذا أَدعوك عند مُلِمّة
كَداعِيَةlike a woman calling upon عِندَby القُبورِthe graves نَصيرَهاher defender
كَداعِيَة عِندَ القُبورِ نَصيرَها
For when I call upon you in calamity,
When I call on you in adversity
I am like a woman by the graves calling upon her defender.
Like one calling out at graves for its helper
