وَإِذا جَزى اللَّهُ امرأ بِإِخائِه

وَإِذا جَزى اللَّهُ امرأ بِإِخائِه

فَجَزى أَخا لي ماجِدا سَمحا

فَجَزى أَخا لي ماجِدا سَمحا

And when God rewards a man for his brotherly friendship,

When Allah rewards a man for his brotherhood

may He reward a brother of mine, noble and generous.

He rewarded a brother of mine, generous and glorious,

نادَيتُهُ عَن كُربَة فَكَأَنَّما

نادَيتُهُ عَن كُربَة فَكَأَنَّما

نادَيتُ عَن لَيل بِه صُبحا

نادَيتُ عَن لَيل بِه صُبحا

I called to him out of distress, and it was as though

I called him in time of distress, as though

through him I called to dawn out of the night.

I called to dispel the night by the dawn.
