لَئِنEven if صَدَرَتended ليof mine زَورَةa visit عَنfrom محمدMuhammad
لَئِن صَدَرَت لي زَورَة عَن محمد
بِمَنعwith a refusal لَقَدindeed فارَقتُهI parted from him وَمعيand with me قَدريmy dignity
بِمَنع لَقَد فارَقتُه وَمعي قَدري
Even if a visit of mine to Muhammad ended
If I showed ingratitude to Muhammad
in refusal, I indeed left him with my dignity intact.
By withholding, I have left him, though my ability remains.
أَلَيسَتIs it not يَداًa favor عِنديin my eyes لِمِثلfor one like محمدMuhammad
أَلَيسَت يَداً عِندي لِمِثل محمد
صِيانَتُهhis safeguarding عَنfrom مِثلthe like of مَعروفِهhis kindness شكريmy gratitude
صِيانَتُه عَن مِثل مَعروفِه شكري
Is it not, in my eyes, a favor from one like Muhammad—
Have I not a hand like Muhammad's
his shielding my gratitude from favors such as his?
To reward the likes of his kindness and favor?
