لنا على النار قدرٌ

We have a pot upon the fire,

We have a cauldron on the fire

a virgin to the fire’s seal.

Sealed with the seal of fire

وعندنا من بقايا

صبيحة العيد خمر

And we have, left over from

And we have left over

the morning of Eid, some wine.

From the dawn of Eid is wine

وقد دعونا غلاماً

وقد دعونا غلاماً

كالغصن أعلاه بدر

كالغصن أعلاه بدر

And we have invited a youth,

And we called a boy

like a bough whose top is a full moon.

Like a branch, above it a full moon

فاطلع علينا وساعد

فاطلع علينا وساعد

أو لا فما لك عذر

أو لا فما لك عذر

So look in on us and lend a hand,

So join us and help out

or not—for you have no excuse.

Or else you have no excuse
