قدindeed قلتُI said لماwhen مرhe passed بيby me معرضاًturning away
كالبدرlike the full moon تحتbeneath الغسقnightfall الداجيpitch-dark
Indeed, I said when he passed me, turning away,
When he passed by averting his face,
Like the full moon beneath the pitch-dark night,
Like the moon beneath the murky night,
يهتزhe sways فيin حشيتهhis padding متعباًwearied
منbecause of كفلa rump كالموجlike the waves رجراجquivering
Swaying in his padding, wearied
Swaying wearily in his chest
By a rump that quivers like the waves:
From shoulders rippling like waves,
ويليwoe to me علىat حلuntying سراويلهhis trousers
فإنهfor indeed it شدwas fastened علىupon عاجivory
Woe to me at untying his trousers,
Woe to me from his flowing robe,
For they have been fastened upon ivory!
For it clung to ivory.
