أغشى أناساً فأغشى في منازلهم

I visit people, and in their homes I encounter

I've overcome people, so I'll overcome in their homes

Hunger afflicting me, but no fire of theirs.

Hunger for me, though I won't overcome their fire

قد ألجموا القمل أن ترزأ دماءهم

قد ألجموا القمل أن ترزأ دماءهم

وألجموا في الكوى الجرذان والفارا

وألجموا في الكوى الجرذان والفارا

They have indeed bridled the lice lest they diminish their blood,

They've bridled the lice from sucking their blood

And in the wall openings they have bridled the rats and mice.

And bridled in their cooking pots the mice and rat
