ولا نال بؤساً فما أضيقا
And a black woman—may a part of her be blessed,
With some of its blackness blessed
And may it never suffer misery—for how tight it is!
And no harm afflicted, how narrow it was

نزوت عليها ولا علم لي

بأن لها كعثناً محرقا
I mounted her, not knowing
I alighted upon it, unknowing
That she had a scorching vulva.
That it held a burning ember

ومن شدة الضيق أن أخنقا
And I nearly roasted from the heat,
I nearly perished from the heat
And nearly suffocated from the sheer tightness.
And from the tightness, nearly strangled

And I found that our two bodies together
And found from our two bodies together
Made a piebald figure to anyone watching us.
To our eye a pale specter

وإن تممت ولدت عقعقا
For if merely grazed, she is hit squarely with semen;
So if you scratch parchment with purpose
And if the act is completed, she bears a magpie.
And if you perfect, you birth a vulture
