O Ahmad, son of the sovereign of the age,

You have made an auspicious arrival among us.

And O Reviver of the Faith, you have clothed us

In a new mantle of joy since you came.

You were born under a sign of good fortune, through which

We see ill fortune driven from you, a homeless wanderer.

    بك الدين والعلم يرجو المزيدا

    Through you, kingship and glory rejoice;

Through you, faith and learning hope for more.

May your father rejoice—the sovereign who

Has run a long course in noble deeds,

Surpassing others in eminence, resolve, and generosity,

And in glory, justice, and sound judgment.

So may you both be blessed; then may you both live

A long life in honor and victory.

And may the eye of providence watch over you both,

And slay your enemy and the envious one.

And may the spirit of Muhammad, the Chosen One,

Shade you both, father and newborn.

And take, for the cub, O you—

Lion—the chronogram of his coming into being,

In a verse of poetry endowed with wisdom,

Before which master poets fall prostrate:

He shall remain a king, awe-inspiring and fearsome,

Fortunate, rightly guided, diligent, and glorious.
