وَصل الموصولُ كلٌّ علا

وَصل الموصولُ كلٌّ علا

بكَ يا مَن لا نَظيرَ لهُ

بكَ يا مَن لا نَظيرَ لهُ

The favored one has reached every height

The connected one came, each calling out

through you, O you who have no equal.

To you, O matchless one

لك دون المُبتلي حسداً

لك دون المُبتلي حسداً

آخرٌ قد زان أوَّلَه

آخرٌ قد زان أوَّلَه

Yours, unlike the one afflicted with envy,

Another who has committed adultery envies you

is an end that has adorned its beginning,

Out of affliction

وَسماحٌ ناهضٌ وله

وَسماحٌ ناهضٌ وله

خُلُق في الناس أَسفلُه

خُلُق في الناس أَسفلُه

and generosity that rises high; while he has

And a forgiving one rising high

the basest character among people.

Whose character among people is the lowest

وكفاه أن يَذوب جوىً

وكفاه أن يَذوب جوىً

كلَّما أَصبحتَ تُخملهُ

كلَّما أَصبحتَ تُخملهُ

And it suffices him to melt with burning heartache

It is enough for him to melt away in love

whenever you come to eclipse him,

Whenever you frown at him

وَيذوق الموتَ من كمدٍ

وَيذوق الموتَ من كمدٍ

كلَّما حازيتَ منزلَه

كلَّما حازيتَ منزلَه

and taste death from pent-up grief

And to taste death out of suppressed rage

whenever you match his station.

Whenever you punish him

والوَرى داعٍ وَمُلتفت

والوَرى داعٍ وَمُلتفت

وسَؤول مَدّ أنمُلَه

وسَؤول مَدّ أنمُلَه

And people call out and turn toward you,

And creation supplicates and turns

and persistent petitioners stretch out their fingertips.
