ياO مَنyou who أمالَdrew الورىhumankind طُرّاًall together إلىto حَلبِAleppo
يا مَن أمالَ الورى طُرّاً إلى حَلبِ
بالجودِthrough generosity والخُلقand character المَألوفfamiliar والأَدبِand refinement
بالجودِ والخُلق المَألوف والأَدبِ
O you who drew all humankind to Aleppo
Through generosity, familiar good character, and refinement.
لاmay not زِلتَyou cease فيin نِعمةٍbliss يَقضيdecrees الزمانTime بهاwith it
لا زِلتَ في نِعمةٍ يَقضي الزمان بها
أصمَّdeaf أعمىblind بلاwithout همٍّworry ولاand without نَصبِtoil
أصمَّ أعمى بلا همٍّ ولا نَصبِ
May you ever live in bliss that Time decrees,
Deaf and blind, without worry or toil.
ولاand may not شكوتyou complain بماof what أشكوI complain إليكto you بهof it
ولا شكوت بما أشكو إليك به
الفَقرpoverty والشَيبand gray hair والتَزويجand marriage والجَربِand scabies
الفَقر والشَيب والتَزويج والجَربِ
And may you never complain of what I complain of to you:
Poverty, gray hair, marriage, and scabies.
